Virginia Minardi Nottingham passes away

Virginia Minardi Nottingham
Virginia Minardi Nottingham passed away Monday, August 10. She was born in Hutchinson.

Virginia is survived by her children, Linda Nottingham Willis, Class of 1964, a majorette and class officer at Monongah High on the State Farm staff, married to Davis Willis; and John T. “Tommy” Nottingham, Class of 1968, married to Victoria Blocker Nottingham, Class of 1969. Both couples live in Worthington.

Victoria is a daughter of Richard Blocker and Lucille Loss Blocker, daughter of J.B. Loss and Josephine Dieling Loss.

Virginia’s other survivors include a sister-in-law, Louise Domico Minardi, Class of 1947; and a special nephew, James Nottingham, Class of 1961.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Russell J. Nottingham; her brother, Jim Minardi; her sister, Elizabeth Kuhens; a grandchild, Christopher Thomas Nottingham; and two special cousins, Sylvia Murphy and Liz Orsini.

Virginia Nottingham

December 23, 1923 - August 10, 2017

Virginia Nottingham, 93, of Worthington, passed away Monday, August 10, 2017. Virginia was born in Hutchinson, WV December 23, 1923, the daughter of immigrant parents John and Mary Teresa DeLuca Minardi and stepmother Anntoinette Minardi from San Giovanni, Italy. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

 

Virginia enjoyed cooking, canning, gambling, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the WVU Mountaineers, and The University of Alabama football. She was nicknamed “The Shark Lady” for her love of looking for shark’s teeth on her many family vacations to Myrtle Beach. She retired from Owens-Illinois after working for 30 years on A-shift in the packing department.

 

Virginia is survived by her children, Linda Willis husband David of Worthington, and Tom Nottingham and wife Vickie of Worthington; three grandchildren Shawn Willis and wife Melissa, Kevin Willis and wife Christa, and Chad Nottingham and wife Miranda; four great grandchildren, Kyler Willis, Bryson and Camdon Willis, and Elias Nottingham; a sister-in-law Louise Minardi; and a special nephew, James Nottingham.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Nottingham; her brother, Jim Minardi; her sister Elizabeth Kuhens; a grandchild, Christopher Thomas Nottingham; two special cousins, Sylvia Murphy and Liz Orsini;and her granddog, Max Nottingham.  

 

The family would like to give special thanks to the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance and to Amedysis Hospice and to their special nurse, Becca Roth-Fenton.

 

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave, Fairmont, on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Vincy Illickial officiating.
