Death in Kerekes family

JoAnn Kerekes, who “remembers very well” my Uncle Steve Kerekes even though they aren’t related, reports that her brother, Allen Zane Stiles, passed away. He was 82 and was a 40-year-cancer survivor.

“We will miss him,” writes JoAnn, who worked at Fairmont General Hospital and lived in Barrackville before moving to Denver, Colorado. JoAnn is a Parsons High and WVU graduate.

As for Uncle Steve, who married Helen Olesky Kerekes, sister of Frances Olesky Fazio and John W. Olesky, Sr.: “I remember your uncle as a very nice gentleman.”

Michelle Anne Furlong and Fairmont State grad Elizabeth Watson, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, are JoAnn’s daughters who made her a grandmother. Former Monongalia General Hospital nurse Tag Stiles is her sister.

As for the Kerekes branch that’s in my family:

Uncle Steve’s sister, Clara Keekes Yuhas, has three daughters: Irene Yuhas Ice, who married Guy Ice; Clara “Tuney” Yuhas Kniceley, who married Jimmy Kniceley; and Elizabeth Yuhas Dudash, who married Andy Dudash.

Frances married Renzy Fazio. John Olesky, my father, married Lena Futten Olesky.
