Harold Dean Kniceley, Class of 1960,
and wife
Sandra Kay Miller Kniceley celebrated their 51st
wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 20.
Daughter
Dawn Kniceley, a graphics designer, lives in Centreville, Maryland, the county seat of Queen Anne’s County. Her
grandmother was Margaret Louise Basnett Kniceley.
So does
Harold, a Fairmont State fine arts graduate with a Johns Hopkins master’s
degree who taught for decades in Queen Anne’s County High School in Maryland. He
is a cancer survivor.
Harold grew up in Carolina
where he played summer baseball under Cassie Ryan, who
also was Mannington High’s talented football and baseball coach.
Harold lived on 5th Street, the last house up on the right with big
gardens, big yard and a small house.
Marsha
Jean Kniceley, Class of 1963, who lives in Pinehurst, North Carolina, is
Harold's second cousin. Marsha’s mother was Margaret Prevatt Kniceley.
Harold may be
related to the late Olive Jane Kniceley Hulderman of Idamay.
Olive Jane’s children
were Sylvia Ann Hulderman Edwards, Class of 1967, married to Ed, who live
in Idamay (Sylvia previously was married to Don Fitzwater, Class of 1966); Raymond
"Bugs" Hulderman, Class of 1966, who married Lorraine Snider
Hulderman, Class of 1966; Thomas Hulderman, Class of 1969, who married Jane
Hulderman; and Don Pitman, Class of 1962, who married Jane Pitman.
Tom Hulderman was a
Pop Warner player with the Idamay Black Diamonds for the legendary Nick Saban,
Sr., father of Alabama football coach Nick “Brother” Saban.
There’s also Bertha
Kniceley Davies, Class of 1960.
Monongah
High grad Clara “Tunny” Yuhas Kniceley of Carolina married married James
“Jimmy” Ray Kniceley, son of Earl and Anna Kniceley of Hyers, West Virginia.
