Jean Harden King, Class of 1952,
passed away Friday, August 18.
She grew up in the Cottage Avenue
home of her parents, Wayne and Catherine Harden, which was across U.S. 19 from
the Olesky family’s Church Street house.
Former Monongah High quarterback, the
late Carroll Rogers, grew up in the Cottage Avenue home at the bottom of the hill. Ava and
Fred Cogar were in the 2nd house. The Hardens were in the third
house.
Jean’s brother, Don Harden, is
deceased.

Pearl (Jean Harden) King of Grant Town, wife
of the late Jess R. King who passed away on August 2007.
She was the daughter of the late Wayne and
Catherine Harden of Monongah. She had one brother, the late Donald R.
Harden of Baltimore.
Jean was born in Monongah and was a 1952
graduate of Monongah High school. She was an employed as a doorkeeper for
Peoples Furniture for 11 years.
Jean married Jess King on October 03,
1959. They were blessed with two sons, Mark J. and wife Lisa of Stafford,
VA and Bradley W and wife Janie of Falling Waters, WV. She was truly
blessed with 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Phillip, Anthony, Katie and Grace. She
is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a former member of St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church in Fairmont where she taught CCD and RCIA classes. She
also belonged to St. Elizabeth Guild.
Jean enjoyed every day the flowers, birds,
puzzle books, soap operas, family and friends.
Family will receive friends at Domico Funeral
Home, 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont, Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of
Christian burial will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman’s Catholic Church at
10:00 a.m. Wednesday with Father Robert Perillo acting as celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Grandview Mausoleum. Online condolences can be
