Hattie Savereno passes away

Harriet “Hattie” Savereno, widow of Tony Frank Savereno, Class of 1941, passed away.

Hattie, 93, was born in Elizabeth, not too far from Parkersburg, to Ike and Minnie Hornish Shears.

Tony was Monongah’s mailcarrier for many years. Tony’s siblings were Christine, Orlando (Lundix), Jean, Frances and Mary.

Hattie lived on Camden Avenue where she lived with Tony since 1950.

Hattie’s children are Linda Savereno Moorehead, Class of 1968, who married Fred Moorehead; Mark Savereno, Class of 1970; and T.J. Savereno, Class of 1979.

T.J. has been friends with Francis Savereno Pulice, Class of 1948, since first grade in Carolina through their 1948 MHS graduation and still stay in touch.  Frances lives in Morgantown. So do her sisters, Jean and Mary.
Frances was a cheerleader at MHS and married John Pulice from Idamay (not the Frank Pulice family from Monongah).

Other Monongah High alumni in the Savereno family:

Mary Savereno Hewitt, Class of 1952.

Jean Savereno DeCarlo, Class of 1945.
