Norma Virginia Maunz, 90, of Fairmont, passed from this life Tuesday June 17, 2014 at the Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus. She was born August 13, 1923 in Fairmont, WV, daughter of the late Austin T. and Virginia (Cheirello) Maunz, Sr.

She later retired from the Marion County Senior Center. Norma was an active member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church where she volunteered her time whenever she was needed, and served as a former treasurer of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, refurbishing old furniture, and traveling. Norma was known to those who knew her as a very selfless individual.

She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Nick Calabrase of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Maunz; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Emmanuel and Margaret Maunz, Albert and Betty Maunz, Austin and Theresa Maunz, and Eugene Maunz; one sister, Calaerene Calabrase; and one nephew, Austin Phillip Maunz.
Norma’s family would like to thank longtime friends of the Maunz family, Carole Sago and her daughter Natasha Anderson for their continuous care and support; the Pierpont Center Staff for taking care of her for the past eight years; and a special thank you to her day nurse, Ava Wilt Dean for always looking after her.
