Bridgeport mayor arrested for oxy dispensing

Bridgeport Mayor Mario Blount was arrested Tuesday on federal drug charges, about seven months after his Best Care Pharmacy stores in Bridgeport, Lumberport and Weston were raided by the Greater Harrison Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the DEA.

According to a press release, Blount is alleged to have conspired with two other individuals, Angela Davis, 50, of Bridgeport, and her daughter, April Davis, 23, of Marietta, Ga., to illegally dispensed more than 11,000 oxycodone and oxymorphone pills in three years.

A quarter of a mile away from Blount’s Best Care Pharmacy, on Main Street, is the Bridgeport office of Fairmont Dr. Edita Milan, 74, who was charged last July in the pill mill case, only weeks after the Drug Task Force and DEA had raided her Bridgeport office.

Several others also have been added to the investigation, and their trials are pending in federal court.
