Frank Pulice, Jr. retires as Fairmont General Hospital Foundation president

Frank Pulice, Jr., Class of 1950, director of the Fairmont General Hospital Foundation since 1993, is retiring from that position, effective June 30. Frank has dedicated more than 35 years of to Fairmont General Hospital.

Hundreds of people came out Saturday to Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont, site of the 2014 Monongah High Alumni Reunion, to honor Frank. 
He was appointed to Fairmont General’s board of directors in 1979, the person to be president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
Frank is a graduate of Monongah High, the Greenbrier Cooking School and Fairmont State.
After Frank Pulice, Sr. and Theresa Larry Loria Pulice moved their family from Chiefton, they  lived on Walnut Street at Camden Avenue in Monongah, where the Fiori and Gumont families once resided, and where the Huntington Bank was constructed after the house was razed and where Dollar General plans to erect a building, although that seems to be taking forever to happen.
The Pulice children were Sam, Tony, William, Rose Ann Pulice Satterfield, Norma Jean Pulice Zannino, Katherine Pulice Manno, Mary Louise Pulice Hefner, Jim, Joe and Frank, Jr.

Frank, Jr.’s wife, Katherine Ann Arco Pulice, passed away in 2009. Their daughter, Diane Pulice Burnside, is married to Phil Burnside and they live in Fairmont.

Diane and Philip have sons Anthony Philip and Jonathan Wade. All are graduates of Fairmont State. Frank’s additional family includes granddaughter Angie Alasky Burnside, great-granddaughter Sophia Violete Burnside and great-grandson Luke Anthony Burnside.

He was inducted into the Fairmont State and Pierpont Community & Technical College Student Affairs Hall of Fame in 2009 and received the first Fairmont State Alumnus Lifetime Achievement award. He is a charter member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and has been the chapter advisor for 26 years.

Frank spent his life in food service, at Fairmont State and elsewhere. He has owned and managed the White Tower Restaurant and Town House Restaurant in Fairmont. He also worked at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Phoenix and the Elks Lodge and The Palace Restaurant in Fairmont.

Frank was in the military from 1952-1954 and was on active reserve duty from 1954-1960.


He is a former Monongah Alumni Association president, the position Linda Lopez Gandy holds today.
