Dollie Engle Butcher, Class of 1955, dies

Dollie Mae Engle Butcher, Class of 1955, passed away Wednesday, May 28.


Husband Donald Butcher, Class of 1952, passed away in 2013. He was from Idamay but lived in Hutchinson during his Monongah High days.


Their son Carl Butcher is North Marion Class of 1983. Daughter Tina Massacci is North Marion Class of 1984.


Deloris Butcher Beals, Donald Butcher's sister, is a deceased 1950 MHS grad.

Dollie Mae Butcher, 77, of Idamay, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Arbors of Fairmont. She was born March 22, 1937 at Carolina, a daughter of the late Carl and Hattie Belle Kelley Engle.

Dollie was formerly employed at Westinghouse in Fairmont where she worked in the seal beam department. She was also a homemaker who loved cooking, baking and canning.

She was a graduate of Monongah High School, class of 1955, and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Farmington. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Carl Butcher and daughter-in-law Kathy Butcher, Idamay, Tina Massacci and husband Roger, Fairmont, Joseph Butcher and wife Carla, Idamay; 2 grandchildren: Lauren and Andrew Massacci; 2 sisters-in-law: Eunice Collins, Worthington, and Beverly Thompson, Woodbridge, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald Ray Butcher, who died September 16, 2013, a sister, Barbara Ann Ramage, and 3 siblings who died in infancy: Paul, Irene and Lana. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Pine St. neighbors of Idamay and the staff of the Arbors for their care and support. Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Friday from 4-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
