Mike Hess’ mom hospitalized

Helen Hess, mother of Mike Hess, Class of 1975, is at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Mike wrote:

Helen “has an infection and it has infected her pacemaker/defibrillator. It will have to be removed along with the wires and an external temporary installed while antibiotics kill off the infection. That should take 72 hours and then the permanent pacemaker/defibrillator will be installed once they are sure that the infection is gone."

Later, Mike reported that the surgery was postponed because Helen's blood is too thin, which makes it more likely for her to bleed during surgery. They'll try to thicken her blood before surgery.

The other woman in Mike’s life is Parma Fetty, Class of 1973, who operates PKS Taxes at 652 Pike Street next door to the Dairy Kone on Camden Avenue (U.S. 19) at Pike Street.

One of Mike’s daughter is named Helen, for her grandmother. Amy Marie Bell is Mike’s other daughter.

Other family members are Robert Hess, Pam Hess Ice, Linda Hess Postlewait and Michelle Nichol Ice.

Mike lived on Helens Run near Worthington during his Monongah High days but resides in Fairmont nowadays.

He spent about a decade as a weld fabricator for Industrial Resources.
