Loraine Gorey Phillips Knobel passes away

Loraine Gorey Phillips Knobel passed away Sunday, January 22.

Loraine’s daughter, Paula Knobel Park, passed away last  September. Loraine’s husband, Robert Knobel, was Paula’s stepfather.

Loraine’s stepdaughter is Linda Knobel-Carr, Class of 1967, married for 48 years to former Monongah Councilman Sanford Carr.

Loraine’s son-in-law, Charley Parker, also lives in Monongah, widower of Blinda Nobel Parker,  Class of 1968, Loraine’s stepdaughter.

So do three of Loraine’s grandchildren.

Loraine Gorey Phillips Knobel of Monongah, WV passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Goryl of Rachel, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Knobel; a daughter, Paula Park; a sister, Genevieve Tekieli; a stepdaughter, Blinda Parker; and a stepson, Bobby Knobel.

She is survived by two daughters, Terri Miconi of Fairmont, Jacquie Price and husband Gary of Mannington; one son, John Phillips and wife Tara of Fairmont; a stepdaughter, Linda Carr and husband Sanford of Monongah; two sons-in-law, Paul Park of Fairmont and Charlie Parker of Monongah; nine grandchildren, Kristopher Price and wife Lora of Arizona, Tiffany Wells of Virginia, Lisa Monday and husband Donovan of Morgantown, John P. Phillips and wife Lori of San Diego, CA, Stacy Perroult and husband Glenn of Oregon, Tonya Posten and husband Billy of Monongah, Brian Carr and wife Mariah of Monongah, Michael Parker of Monongah, Amy Hayes and husband Aaron of Fairmont; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Gotses and Irene Gorey of Fairmont; one brother, Robert Gorey and wife Arlene of Grafton; and eight nieces and nephews.

Loraine retired from Electronic Control Systems in Westchester. She was Catholic by faith but more recently attended the Grace Lutheran Church. She loved her family, enjoyed cooking, solving crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and spending time with her cat.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, in the funeral home with Father S.A. Arokiadass officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
