Even today, Jackie leaves footprints on her way to the cellar house |
It’s been
a week since Winter Storm Jonas slapped Marion County with 2 or 3 feet of snow
and the temperatures today was in the 60’s, but the snow STILL is on the
property of Jackie Olesky Straight, Class of 1955, who lives in a sparsely
populated part of Rivesville.
The
snow was stacked so high by those who cleared Jackie’s driveway and approach to
her front door and garage, for a price, that it hasn’t melted away yet.
Jackie,
like most Marion Countians, was trapped in her home for three days, then had to
maneuver secondary roads where only one lane had been cleared for automobiles.
I-79,
U.S. 19, etc. deservedly were the first priorities. Everyone else had to wait
and shovel.
The state got
up to 42 inches.
Schools in 52
of West Virginia’s 55 counties were closed for days.
I suspect that Jackie isn't the only West Virginian facing the aftermath of Jonas. Bad snowstorm!
