If you will be on the Gulf Coast side of Florida in February, email Bill Meredith at billmere@aol.com or phone Bill at (941) 342-0030 or (614) 582-0335 because he has to make reservations for the 4^th annual Monongah High Alumni Reunion/Florida.

Bill will pick a date when the most former Lions can be in Punta Gorda. For those farther north, there will be a carpool from Bill and Roleta’s home in Sarasota for the 54-mile journey to Punta Gorda.

But contact Bill soon so he can give the restaurant the number of reservations to make.

Hello To All:

We are planning to have another get together for Monongah Alumni who are or will be near the west coast of Florida this winter.  We want to have it when the ones coming from the cold north are here. 

We have met in Punta Gorda the last two years and hope to meet there again.  I need two things at this time.  First, when can you attend?  Secondly, do you know of anyone, other than those listed below, who might be able to attend? 

To save everyone being required to drive, those of us coming from north of Punta Gorda can meet at our home in Sarasota and carpool from there.

I hope to hear from each of you soon, since we are only four weeks from the date and will need to make reservations.

I know several others live on the east coast of Florida, including Peggy Orsini.  Wendell Jones lives in Sarasota.  I will attempt to contact both of them, plus anyone else you think might attend.

Peggy Rauer Orsini, widow of Tom Orsini, Class of 1950, lives in Titusville.

Monongah High Alumni Association president Linda Lopez Gandy and husband Jim, on the Alumni board, usually wind up in Sanibel Island, about midway between Sarasota and Naples, not all that far from Punta Gorda.

Joyce Cowart Davis Peck, Class of 1966, lives in Palm Harbor, Florida. So do John Matkovich, Class of 1948, and wife Dolores Sweede Matkovich, Class of 1953.

Bettie Hensley Lowther, Class of 1948, lives in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Bob Cottrill, Class of 1951, lives in Melbourne, a few miles as the sea gull flies from the Atlantic Ocean.

 

Leo Kubiet, Class of 1942, lives in Largo, Florida.

Pat Meredith Wills, Class of 1950, spends her winters in her St. Augustine Beach, Florida home with husband Don Wills (and summers in their Fairmont home).

Ted Nagel, Class of 1954, has homes in Vinton, Virginia and Micco, Florida.

There also have been reunions at Bill & Roleta’s house, but we’re trying to consolidate into one larger reunion instead of two smaller ones.

Last year at the Meredith home, Barbara Enoch Arnett and Bob Arnett, Lyla Cosner Howell and Len Howell, Sandy Weils Cook and Bob Cook, Arlene Kitchin Martin and Joe Martin, Paula Stone Tucker and John Olesky enjoyed Roleta’s cooking, Bill’s hospitality and the poolside view of the golf course.

A majority also showed up in 2013 at the Meredith home and last year in Punta Gorda.
