At least 13 Monongah High alumni coming to Florida reunion

At least 13 Monongah High alumni will gather in Punta Gorda, Florida February 3^rd for a reunion. It’s the 3^rd MHS reunion in Punta Gorda.


Exected to show up in Punta Gorda this time are Bob & Barb Arnett, Lyla & Len Howell, Joe & Arlene Martin, Sandy & Bob Cook, Bill & Roleta Meredith, Lloyd Schell, Paula Tucker and John Olesky.
If you will be on the Gulf Coast at that time, phone Bill Meredith at (941) 342-0030 because Laishley Crab House needs to know how many seats to set aside.

Since two MHS alumni reunions were held in Bill and Roleta Meredith’s home in Sarasota, this will be the 6^th MHS reunion in Florida in 3 years.

Our annual Monongah HS Alumni Luncheon will be at the same location as last year.  Laishley Crab House, 150 Laishley Court, Punta Gorda, Florida.  We will meet there at 11:30 AM on February 3.  So far, we have 13 people coming.  

 

For those of you who are planning on coming to our home prior to the luncheon, in order to carpool to Punta Gorda, our address is as follows:

We need to know for sure who is coming, in order to leave your names at the front gate.

 

From the North, take I-75 south to Exit 207 (Bee Ridge Road).  Turn left (East) on Bee Ridge at the bottom of the ramp.  The road is being rebuilt, so there is heavy construction.  Drive carefully.  The fourth traffic light (About 2-miles) is Gary Player Blvd.  Turn left and stop at the gate.  Give your name and proceed through the gate to the first stop sign (Donald Ross).  Turn right on Donald Ross and go to the first street on your right (Charles MacDonald Dr.).  Turn right onto Charles MacDonald and go about 1/4 mile to 3201 on the right side. 

 

If you have any problems, call us on our home or cell phone and we'll come and lead you in.  Remember, we leave our home for Punta Gorda at 10:30 AM.  We will leave on time, so please don't be late.  Come early and enjoy a little pre-lunch conversation.

At the most recent MHS reunion in Punta Gorda, which is about 50 miles south of Sarasota, those who attended were Lyla Cosner and Len; Patty Timms Davidson, Class of 1958, and Merlin Davidson, Class of 1957;

 

Louis "Kipper" Fabian, Class of 1957; Joe Martin, Class of 1959, and Arlene Kitchin Martin, a Nova Scotia, Canada native; Lloyd Schell, Class of 1957; Sandy Weils Shaffer Cook, Class of 1959, and husband Bob Cook; and Bill and Roleta.

 

At the most recent MHS reunion in Sarasota at the Meredith home, those who attended were Bob Arnett, Class of 1957, and Barb Enoch Arnett, Class of 1960; Lyla and Len; Sandy and Bob; Joe and Arlene; and John Olesky, Class of 1950, with Paula Stone Tucker, an Akron St. Mary’s High graduate.

This will be the 9^th time in 4 years that the Merediths have gotten together with John & Paula, in Florida, in West Virginia and in Ohio.

Judy Stewart Razook, Class of 1959, a retired nurse living in North Palm Beach.

 

Joyce Cowart Davis Peck, Class of 1966, who lives in Palm Harbor, Florida.

 

Bettie Hensley Lowther, Class of 1948, who lives in Pompano Beach.

Leo Kubiet, Class of 1942, lives in Largo.

 

John Matkovich, Class of 1948, lives in Palm Harbor with wife Dolores Sweede Matkovich, Class of 1953.

 

Pat Meredith Wills, Class of 1950, spends her winters in her St. Augustine Beach home with husband Don Wills (and summers in their Fairmont home).

 

Ted Nagel, Class of 1954, has homes in Micco and in Vinton, Virginia.

 

Bob Cottrill, Class of 1951, lives in Melbourne.
