While working on converting the 1965 Black Diamond Monongah High yearbook from the print version to an online album, I came across the 1965 prom queen and her court. Being a 43-year editor/reporter who can’t kick the habit even though I’ve been retired since 1996, I wondered how many in the court married their escorts.

Cathy Vincent Tarley, escorted by Carlo Tarley, lives in Monongah with her husband and former prom escort, Carlo Tarley, Class of 1965.

That’s it.

Otherwise, no one has a married name that matches their MHS prom escort.

Sadly, Saundra Ann Tetrick Loretta, escorted by Richard Davidson, passed away in 2010 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. She was a member of the Moundsville Woman’s Club. She is survived by her husband, David Loretta, daughter Johna Loretta Fogle, son Jason Loretta and brother Rocky Tetrick of Bingamon. Saundra’s parents were Robert Tetrick and Betty Burner. 

Debbie Morrison Harden, escorted by Steve Prahl, is the widow of Gary Harden, Class of 1964, who passed away in 2011. Gary’s sister is Dietta Harden Goush, Class of 1959, who married Paul Goush, Class of 1954. Dietta and Gary’s parents were Clara Lucille and Richard Harden, who lived on Cottage Avenue in Monongah.

Queen Judy Blocker Kincaid, escorted by Dean Glover, also was Maid of Marion (County).

Irene Fazio Preolitti, escorted by Dave Faber, is married to Mike Preolitti. They live in Traction Park just past the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Monongah. Irene’s parents were Frances Olesky Fazio and Renzy Fazio, who ran Fazio Grocery at the bottom of Jackson Street hill in Monongah. As everyone who has paid any attention to this Monongah High Alumni blog knows, Irene is my cousin because her mom, Frances, and my father, John W. Olesky, Sr. were siblings along with Helen Olesky Kerekes.

Carolyn Marie Prahl Mikulski, escorted by TomYokum, lives in Monongah, went to Fairmont State, worked for Dominon Hope Gas and is the mother of Tom Mikulski. She is divorced from Tom's father, also Tom Mikulski.

Loretta Koski, escorted by Greg Urban, is a Marion County teacher living in Worthington.

Marlene Paula Mick Harrison, escorted by Steven Duckworth, lives in North Carolina.

Maronee Miller Cain, escorted by Earnest Hayes, lives in Fairmont.

If my detective work using the Monongah High graduation lists provided by Ramona Fullen Michalski, Class of 1949, who lives in Monongah; the 1993 North Marion High directory that includes students from Monongah and other high schools absorbed into the consolidation; Monongah High Alumni blog articles over the years; and prowling Facebook pages for clues produced any errors, be sure to let me know.
