John Starr passes away

 John Starr, Class of 1972, of Fairmont, passed away Friday, June 5.


Michael Starr, Class of 1974, is the Good Samaritan who clears snow off neighbors' sideways and driveways without charging them for it. Mike lives on Walnut Street with wife Michelle Starr, also Class of 1974.

His aunt, Worthington native Margaret F. "Maggie" Starr Stemple, passed away in 2013. She attended Holy Spirit Church in Monongah.

John’s obituary:

John Allan Starr, 61, of Fairmont, passed away unexpectantly on June 5, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born February 2, 1954 in Fairmont, a son of the late Joseph “Bud” , Jr. and Josephine Adams Starr. He is survived by his wife Belinda Starr.

Mr. Starr was a graduate of Monongah High School.

He was retired with over thirty years of service with Federal Mine #2 having worked on the long wall. John enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his garden. He loved riding his motorcycle and cheering on the Pirates and Steelers.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughters, Andrea Starr, and Mary Ann and her husband Samuel Tobesman, as well as his granddaughter, Audrey Tobesman, all of Fairmont.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Ann and Joseph Starr, as well as his aunt Margaret Stemple. 

A private memorial service will be held for the family at a later date. The family has entrusted Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont with the services. Online condolences may be made to www.fordfuneralhomes.com .
