Betty Lockhart, kin to John Paknik's widow, passes away

 
Betty Whitecotton Lockhart, sister-in-law of

Ida Mae Lockhart Paknik, John Paknik’s widow, passed away Saturday, June 6.

 

Betty’s parents were Theodore Whitecotton and Mildred Bartholow Whitecotton Satterfield.

John, son of Samuel Paknik Sr. and Anna Cernak Paknik, passed way in 2008. His siblings are Elizabeth Paknik; Mildred Paknik Vozniak, who married Chester Vozniak; Thomas Paknik; Ann Paknik Roubian; Susan Packnik May; Christine Paknik; Samuel Paknik, Jr.; and John Paknik.

Betty Lou Lockhart, 71, of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born in Fairmont on November 10, 1943 a daughter of the late Theodore Whitecotton and Mildred Bartholow Whitecotton Satterfield.


She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James E. Lockhart, Sr.



Betty was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Above all, she loved and enjoyed her family. In addition, she was employed by the Union Mission at the Christian Book Store and later at the Penny Pincher. She was a graduate of the Mountaineer Bible Institute at Hillview Baptist Church.



Betty was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Her many interest included, ceramics, reading, word puzzles, traveling, especially to the beach, and bowling.



She is survived by her children, two sons, James E. Lockhart, Jr. and his wife Eva Marie of Fairmont and Jerald Lockhart, her primary caregiver, of Fairmont; three daughters, Jeanette Zivkovic and her husband Anthony of Fairmont, Juanita Price and her husband Pete of Fairmont and Jessica Goolie and her husband Gene of Fairmont; eight very special grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Brad Scott, Jill Marie Lockhart, Lisa Marie Price, Samuel David and Robin Price, Isaac Nicholas Zivkovic, Brittney and Shawn Moore, Geremy Goolie and Garrett Goolie and five great grandchildren, Logan James Scott, Ashlyn Marie Scott, Reese Skylar Price, Caroline Samara Price and Laney Renee Moore.



Also surviving are her sister, Shirley Lockhart of Oregon and four sisters-in-law, Barbara Whitecotton of McCurdysville , Delores Whitecotton of Fairmont, Ida Mae Paknik of Fairmont and Ruby Lockhart of Fairmont and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Theodore Whitecotton, Donald Whitecotton, Delma Whitecotton and Deloris Whitecotton.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Monday from 1pm to 8pm and on Tuesday 10am to 11am. The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Glen Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
