Tinker Prahl passes away

Charles “Tinker” Prahl, who grew up in Monongah as the son of Paul and Beulah Toothman Prahl, passed away Monday, Jne 22 at his White Hall home.

His sisters, Sarah Prahl Deusenberry of Fairmont and Helen Prahl Graffius of Monongah, survive.

Tinker was predeceased by George Prahl, Class of 1965, whose widow is Wilda “Woody” MaHaffy Prahl and whose first wife was first wife was Elsie Hinton, and Jack, Edward, Clyde, Robert and James Prahl and Lorraine Prahl Yaquinto, Betty Prahl Devores and Coralie Prahl Delligatti.

Tinker, Jack and Jimmy worked together as self-employed masonry contractors.

Tinker’s obituary:

Charles K. (Tinker) Prahl of Fairmont passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home in Whitehall.

Charles was born on May 29, 1935 in Fairmont, a son of the late Paul and Beulah (Toothman) Prahl. He grew up in Monongah. He was a gifted brick mason, bricking many houses and chimneys in Marion County.
Charles married Judith Ann Hartley on September 12, 1953. They shared 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2001.
 
He is survived by their two children and their spouses, Kimberly (Prahl) and Robert Steele of Fairmont and Timothy and Gina (Hayes) Prahl of Pittsburgh. Charles has five grandchildren, Emily (Steele) Hutson, Bert Steele, Amanda Prahl, Shawna Prahl and Shayna Prahl. He also has three great grandchildren, Joseph Hutson, Brady Hutson and Ty Hutson; along with many nieces and nephews.


Charles was one of 13 children. Sarah Deusenberry and Helen Graffius survive him. Preceding him in death were Paul Prahl, Lorraine Yaquinto, Robert Prahl, Betty Lou DeVores, Clyde Prahl, George Prahl, Coralee Delligatti, Jack Prahl, James Prahl and Thomas Prahl.

Charles and Judy enjoyed traveling, going to Hawaii and Florida several times.

He was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be announced.
