John Fazio has pitching in his genes. He got
that from his late father, John Fazio, a lanky pitcher for Monongah High.
In John the son’s case his pitch has been
accepted for presentation at the 2016 Midwest Academy of Management Conference.
Marietta's John Fazio |
It’s not the first time. Previous papers have been
presented at the Southeastern InfORMS Annual Conference, the MBAA International
Conference and in the Journal of the North American Management Society.
Dr. Fazio is on Marietta’s Nonprofits Advisory
Council.
The title of his paper is “The Role of Perceived
Organizational Support and Emotional Intelligence on Job Satisfaction and
Intention to Quit.”
As I understand it, it means that if you think the boss
has your back you’re not likely to leave the company. I’m sure John explained
it much better and in more detail.
John also left some impressive footprints during his Concord
College faculty days in Athens, West Virginia, commuting, I think, from his
Charleston home.
John the father came from the large
Fazio family in Monongah that included Renzy Fazio, who ran
Fazio Grocery on Jackson Street with his wife, Frances Olesky Fazio; Jeanette Fazio
DiBiase; Albert Fazio of New York; Mary Virginia Fazio Pasquale and husband Joseph
of Fairmont; the late Nick, James, Joseph and Michael; Edith Fazio DeCarlo,
Elizabeth Fazio Domico, Angeline Fazio Prozzillo and Carmella Fazio
DePond.
As many of you
know, Frances Olesky Fazio was the sister of Helen Olesky Kerekes, who married
Steve Kerekes, and John W. Olesky, Sr., father of Jackie Olesky Straight, Class
of 1955, who lives in Rivesville, and me – John Olesky, Jr., Class of 1950, who
lives in Tallmadge, Ohio and The Villages, Florida, depending on the weather
and WVU football games.
John Fazio the father’s widow is Dolores Stancheck.
