Ameila Shenasky Zentz, the dancing blonde who helped her parents
Pete and Nell at their P.P. Shenasky Grocery eons ago, fell in her home.
Fortunately, she didn’t break anything. At the age of 97, that’s
a stunning achievement.
Let another remarkable Monongah resident, Susan Staron Sanders,
the angel of Thomas Street, explain it:
“When I talked to her last evening she said, “Oh Susan I loved my angel light. What a beautiful women she is. Please say a prayer.”
The angel light is a Monongah Christmas street light that is on Shenasky Lane where Amelia lives.
Amelia’s father, Pete Shenasky, bought the building from Mr. Martin in 1921. Class of 1953 grad Evelyn Kasper Boggess’ son, J.L. Boggess, owns it today.
Bruce passed away years ago after 55 years of marriage to Amelia. So did Amelia’s brother, dentist Dr. John Henry Shenasky, a year or two ago.
As for her dancing: At the age of 19 Amelia was invited to and danced at the Cotton Club in New York City, where Paula’s son, Patrick, still plays a wicked saxaphone from time to time.
