Buz Cox’s mom passes away

Mary Bunner Cox Huffman mother of Monongah’s Buz Cox, passed away Tuesday, January 31.

Mary Bunner Cox Huffman, 90, of Fairmont passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born November 18, 1926 on East Grafton Road, Fairmont, daughter of the late Ira T. and Clara I. (Hayhurst) Bunner, of Bunner’s Dairy.

Mary graduated in June 1943 from Fairmont Senior High School at the age of 16. She was formerly employed at Copper’s Coal Company, Owens-Illinois, The Fairmont Box Company, and Champion Block Corporation.

Mary is survived by two children, Linda (Cox) Gowers of Elkins and William “Buz” Cox and wife Patty of Monongah; one brother, William Bunner of Bell Run Road; two sisters, Barbara Stevens of White Hall and Joyce Bowers of Akron, OH; three grandchildren, Tricia (Cox) Winkler and TJ of Lima, OH, Casey (Cox) Harris of Fairmont, and Jessica Gowers of Moundsville; and five great grandchildren, Syd and Reghan Winkler, of Bowling Green, OH, Michael Harris of Fairmont, and Ky and Lorelei Williams of Moundsville.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Cox; second husband, Warren Huffman; and sister, Nancy Bunner. Dorothy Ferrell, Tommy Ferrell, and Jerry Burrows were Mary’s Caregivers and Companions.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
