Monongah High Alumni Association president Linda Lopez
Gandy, Class of 1965, and Association board member Jim Gandy, Class
of 1964, are celebrating their 48th
wedding anniversary.
Linda wrote:
“Happy Anniversary to my best friend, my husband. Loved
you when I married you and love you more today. Thank you for the wonderful
years we have had together. All 48.”
Linda’s parents are the late Joanne
Vandetta Lopez, daughter of Frank
and Olga Grandoni Vandetta, and Sam Lopez, Sr., who survived the World War II
sinking of the USS Indianapolis and is among 26 still living who escaped death
for days in shark-infested waters.
Linda’s brother, Sam Lopez Jr., lives in Fairmont.
