Another Mountaineer golden at Olympics

Now the WVU rifle team has TWO gold medals at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in Brazil.

Former WVU team member Nicco Campriani, shooting for his home country of Italy, won the men's 10m air rifle.

19-year-old West Virginia University rifle team member Ginny Thrasher of Springfield, Virginia won the first gold medal in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
She got the gold in the women’s 10m air rifle.In the 2012 Olympics, Campriani won the silver medal in the 10m rifle final.


He won gold in 2012 in the 50m three position rifle final. Qualifications for that event this year will be August 14.

Campriani will also shoot in the 50m rifle prone August 12.

Campriani is the second Mountaineer to win gold in rifle at the Rio Olympics.
