Most faithful readers of this blog: Class of 1954!

So, which Monongah High classes are the most faithful readers of this Monongah High Alumni blog?

Using the email group list that I compiled before switching from emailed newsletters to this MHS blog for my research, and the Monongah High birthdays list that extends to today, this is the way it shapes up (if you are from a class that shows NO readers, then email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com with your full name, including maiden name, graduation year, birthday date and current hometown, and I will update this article).

Taking them by number of members in each class who partake in this Monongah High Alumni blog, here are the rankings:

1.Class of 1954
2.Class of 1950 (my class)
3.Class of 1948
4.Class of 1949
5.Class of 1964
6.Class of 1951
(tie) Class of 1960
(tie) Class of 1970
9. Class of 1966
10. Class of 1959
(tie) Class of 1971
12. Class of 1956
(tie) Class of 1972
(tie) Class of 1973
(tie) Class of 1975
16. Class of 1942
(tie) Class of 1947
(tie) Class of 1955 (my sister's class)
(tie) Class of 1958
20. Class of 1940
(tie) Class of 1944
(tie) Class of 1945
(tie) Class of 1946
(tie) Class of 1952
(tie) Class of 1953
(tie) Class of 1957
(tie) Class of 1961
(tie) Class of 1963
(tie) Class of 1965
(tie) Class of 1966
(tie) Class of 1966
(tie) Class of 1967
(tie) Class of 1974
(tie) Class of 1976
(tie) Class of 1978
(tie) Class of 1979
36. (none)
Class of 1941
Class of 1943
Class of 1969
Class of 1977

The Classes of 1948 through 1964 provide the bulk of the participants.

The Classes of 1941, 1943, 1969 and 1977 have shown no evidence that they participate. I can understand 1941 and 1943 because so many of their graduates have passed away. But the other two are baffling. Maybe they haven't gotten nostalgic enough yet?

If YOU are in one of those non-participating classes, email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com with your full name, including maiden name, graduation year, birthdays date and current hometown and I’ll add you to the birthdays list and remove your class from the no-show list.

You can help in another way, too. Let your former classmates know how to get onto the Monongah High Alumni blog by going to jo4wvu.blogspot.com and putting the MHS Alumni blog on their Favorites web sites list for easy referral.

Articles and photos are added daily unless Paula and I are traveling, so check back regularly. We lost some traction and followers after the switch from emailed MHS Alumni newsletters to the online Monongah High Alumni blog web site (some found it difficult to get to since it requires more expertise than just opening the emailed newsletters), so this is my attempt to get the online blog up to or above the level of the emailed newsletters list.

The computer counts the number of visits to this Monongah High blog for each day. It shows that the average has doubled since the early days of the switch, so we're on the right track. I just want even more enthusiastic and inter-action and information among former Lions.

Thank you.

John Olesky, Class of 1950

By the way, I plan to attend the 2015 Monongah High Alumni Reunion on Saturday, May 23 at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont, so be sure to come up to me and let me know you’re an MHS Alumni blog reader. I’ll have my camera so I’ll probably take your photo and ask you to email me details about your post-Monongah High life.

I also am heading a drive to get every surviving, ambulatory member of the Class of 1950 to attend the all-classes reunion May 23, 2015 and the Class of 1950 and Class of 1955 combined reunion on Friday, May 22.

My sister, Jackie Olesky Straight, is a 1955 graduate. I’m trying to work with 1955 graduates to see if they can round up their troops, too.

See you at the 2015 Monongah High Alumni reunion dinner-dance. Let's make Linda Lopez Gandy and Donna Davis ecstatic about the turnout!
