Man arrested for
Fairmont bank robbery

Fairmont Police arrested William “Billy” Amos after Thursday’s
bank robbery at Wes Banco in Fairmont. Police were called to the scene at
approximately 10:12 a.m. near Marion Square.
West Virginia State Police Trooper McDougal located the man's car, a blue Ford Taurus shortly after the robbery near Little Vegas on Route 19. Fairmont Police Chief Kelley Moran said Amos robbed the bank at knifepoint and fled with an unspecified amount of money.

Police said Amos said he left a bomb outside of the bank and a
K9 unit cleared the area of explosives. The bank is expected to be closed
for business for the day. Trooper McDougal told 12 News that Amos admitted to
robbing the Wes Banco.
The Huntington Bank
at White Oaks in Harrison County was robbed on Monday, July 7.
The vehicle used in that robbery was described by Bridgeport Police as a
"light blue Buick style vehicle". No arrests
have been made in that case.
The FBI responded
to the scene.
