Two of my favorite Monongah High alumni, Mary “Kitty” Ahouse Morrison and Sue Ahouse Schrader, along with their cousin, Joyce Ahouse Blake, were in an automobile accident on Mile 21 of I-78 in New Jersey.

All three wound up in the hospital emergency room.

Reports Kitty:

Thanking God that we are alive and safe. Bruised and sore. Had cat scans and X-rays.

“Sue was driving and a car cut her off. We went across three lanes of traffic and hit a guardrail.

“Off-duty cop behind us said there wasn’t anything else Sue could have done. He said if she had slowed down he would have been involved. He called for help and stayed with us.

“Larry (Sue’s boyfriend Larry Konzelman) went to empty my car and his daughter Laura are here with us.

“We are sore but very, very lucky. Hopefully we will try to head home tomorrow in Sue’s car.

“Keep us in prayers, please and thank Whomever protected us.”

Kitty added:

“I have no idea how we crossed three lanes and not hit anyone else or got hit ourselves.”

Sue and Larry live in their Piscataway, New Jersey home when Sue isn’t in her Stoney Lonesome house or traveling around the country.

The three Ahouse women left Piscataway for the journey to West Virginia before the accident on the Interstate.

Kitty is Class of 1968. Sue is Class of 1971.

Their brother, Mike Ahouse, is 1985 North Marion graduate and a mailman living in Monongah. They have another brother, Henry Ahouse.

Cousin Joyce is a Doddridge County High grad who lives in Clarksburg. She is a widow.
