Retired coal miner Okey Boggess is
observing his 90th birthday today.
Okey has been married to Evelyn
Kasper Boggess, Class
of 1953, for 61 years (62 come September 1, 2018).
Kathy Boggess Peaslee, Class of 1975, is their daughter. Kathy’s
son Zack Peaslee was in WVU Marching Band and another son, Matthew, is married
to Erin.
Their son, John Boggess, owns the building that once
housed the P.P. Shenasky Grocery on U.S. 19 adjacent to where Thoburn School
once stood.
Okey and Evelyn live in the Willow
Road home where Evelyn grew up as Lawrence Kasper’s daughter along with Evelyn’s
brother, Bob Kasper, Class
of 1950, who lives in South Lyon and Presque
Isle, Michigan.
