Senator Prezioso’s
aunt passes away
Carmella Yerace,
sister of the late Amelia Prezioso, State Senator Roman Prezioso’s mother,
passed away Thursday, August 9.

Amelia ran
Prezioso Grocery at the top of Jackson Street with her husband, Roman Prezioso,
Sr. Roman, Jr., Class of 1967, lives in Fairmont with wife Deborah.
Carmella was among the eight children of Nick and Rose Yerace of Everson.

Carmella Yerace, 90, of
Fairmont passed away early Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Fazio’s Eldercare. She
was born on September 1, 1927 to Nick and Rose Yerace in Everson, West
Virginia.
Carmella graduated from
Fairmont Senior High School and from West Virginia Business College in
Fairmont. In November 1952 she began her career in banking at City National
Bank as a Bookkeeper and worked as a Teller, Manager of the Savings Department
and Assistant Cashier. In 1975 she was promoted to Cashier. In May 1974 she
graduated from the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State
University. She was active in the West Virginia Bankers Association and the
National Association of Bank Women. She retired from banking in December 1992.
She was a member of the Fairmont Soroptimist Club where she served as a past
president. She also served on the board of HOPE Inc., Domestic Violence Center.
In addition to her
career, she was an active member of St Peter’s Catholic Church, where she
served as a Special Minister of the Eucharist and was a member of the Catholic
Daughters of America Court Joan of Arc 341 for over 70 years.
In addition to her parents,
Carmella was preceded in death by three brothers: James (Rose); Joseph (Rose)
and Peter (Margie); four sisters: Teresa (Frank) Argiro; Katie
(Milton) Scrivo; Mary (Felix) DiMaria; Amelia (Roman) Prezioso; a nephew Frank DiMaria and a niece Rosemary Argiro.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received
at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Monday, August 13, from 2
- 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Tuesday
at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church with Father Joseph Konikattil as
celebrant and Deacon David Lester. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel
Cemetery.
The Catholic Daughter’s
will have a Memorial Service Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Rosary led by Fr.
Joseph Konikattil will be recited Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral
home.
The family wishes to thank Cora Fazio and the staff at Fazio’s Eldercare
for their loving care over the last four years.
