Christmas street lights fundraising lined up

Susan Staron Sanders and her Charge of the Light Brigade are preparing fund drives to pay for the electricity for the Monongah Christmas street lights.

Susan reports:

“The five new lights have been shipped and are on their way. Yeah!”

That brings the total to 26. There will be no more, but more Susan’s brigade raises, the longer the lights can stay on.

The first fundraiser will be the “road toll” 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, August 4 in front of the Circle K.

The Night Out with the Cops will be Tuesday, August 7. Hot dogs, nachos & cheese, pop & cookies will go on sale to help raise money for the lights.

There will be another Halloween party for the children on Saturday, October 27. That will give the kids a day to rest on Sunday before returning to their classrooms.

The Christmas Fundraiser will happen Saturday, November 17.

A date for the Santa Claus ride hasn’t been set, Susan said, “because I have to contact Mr. and Mrs. Claus.”

Lighting up Monongah with Christmas cheer began when White Hall donated 7 lights in 2015 to the town.

And, once the next 5 are installed, there will be 26 symbols of Christmas to cheer up everyone for the great holiday.
