Terri Orsini Saye to retire

Terri Orsini Saye, Class of 1972, who lives in Durham, North Carolina, will be officially retired as of June 1 as Cataloging Librarian at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill.

In May she’ll be visiting West Virginia – her parents, Tony Orsini and Mary Louise Baker Orsini, live on
Swisher Hill – and heading for Italy in September. Tony, Class of 1946, and Mary Louise, who began at
Monongah High with the Class of 1948, have been married 65 years.

Terri writes:

“John,

“I love it here.  There is a lot to do with 3 major universities near by and Raleigh and Durham have lots of activities (sports, theater, concerts)   I look forward to enjoying them more once I retire.

“I have adapted well to single life.  Jerry's illness (MS) made life really miserable for him and me.  I know he is in a much better place -- and so am I.

Terri’s husband, Dr. Jerry D. Saye, passed away in 2012 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Jerry
was a Fairmont State librarian before his career led to being a professor at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science.

Terri’s father, Tony, was a fellow 1946 graduate of Fred Fleming, brother of  Barbara Marsh Fleming, Class of 1947, who lives in Thousand Oaks, California.

Terri will be coming to West Virginia in May for trout fishing with Tony.

Tony was one of the six athletic Monongah High Orsini brothers: Tom “Bum,”  Larry, Jimmy, Junior (Cocoa) and Bill. Only 2 are still living, Tony and Jimmy.   Jimmy lives in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Orsini family had a grocery store in Worthington run by mom, Sylvia Orsini.

Tom, Class of 1950, died in 2005. Peggy Rauer Orsini, Class of 1959, Tom’s widow, lives in Titusville, Florida, where Tom was a teacher for 30 years.
