Rosalie Hestick Wood passes away

Monongah High graduate Rosalie Hestick Wood passed away Monday in Fairmont. Her husband is Daniel Wood.

Survivors include her daughter Denise Wood Williams Roncone, Class of 1976, of Monongah, and her son, Kevin D. Wood, Class of 1978, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Rosalie Wood, 77, of Monongah, WV passed away Monday April 27, 2015 at The Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born February 18, 1938 in Hutchinson, WV, daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Mozuke) Hestick.

Rose graduated from Monongah High School and was formerly employed at Owens Illinois, Dairy Mart Foods and the ABC State Store. She was an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah where she lovingly volunteered her time every year making Easter eggs. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Rosary Group, and for some time taught CCD at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston.

Rose enjoyed spending time with her family. She created many special memories by hosting holiday dinners especially the Christmas Eve “Feast of the Seven Fishes” Dinner, and an annual Apple Butter Festival for her family and friends. She loved antiques and was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer sports fan and “official”.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Daniel Wood; a son, Charles Franklin Wright, Jr. and his wife Cheryl “Joann” of Enterprise, WV; daughter Denise Roncone and husband Michael of Monongah, WV, son Kevin Wood and wife Karen of Mechanicsburg, PA, and daughter Janine Watson and husband Jeff of Fairmont, WV;  grandchildren, Clista Pizzi and husband Ricky; Shawn Palmer and his wife Kyla, Chad Palmer, Danielle Williams, Logan Watson, Petty Officer Third Class Jullian Watson, Trevor Wood, and Ciprianna Greek and husband Gene; great grandchildren, Raven and Talon Lester; Gino, Vinnie, and Holly, Pizzi, Brooklyn, and Brayden Palmer, Jayden Walton, Mason, Carder and Thomas Greek. She is also survived by cousins, Ann Davis, George Mozuke, John Paul Mozuke and wife Sue, Deanna Acord, Jean Abrunzo and husband Pat, Jim Zeck and wife Joyce, and Pete Zeck and wife Janet; and several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children; and four siblings, Martha McGinnis, Mike Hestick Jr., Christine Ogden, and Joe Hestick.

Rosalie selected cremation as her final disposition.  Rosalie continues to help others through the CORE donor program. The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday May 8, with a vigil service being held at 4 p.m. by Deacon Louis Belldina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 9, at The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Father S.A. Arokiadass as celebrant.
