Florida latest adventure for Monongah's travelin’ Kitty
Mary “Kitty” Ahouse Morrison, Class
of 1968, who lives on Lyndon Avenue in Monongah, is gallivanting around the
country again.

Kitty
has partied with a limousine full of ladies on their way to New York City,
lived it up in Key West, soaked up sun and fun in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,
and run a half-marathon in Chicago.
This
time, as Kitty explains: “Rhonda Carol Martin, Janet Mundell and I are off on
a trip to Florida with Nancy's Tours. Prayers for safe travel. Will post
pictures.”
Kitty’s focus will be on the Jacksonville/St. Augustine
area, which will bring her near Pat Meredith Wills, Class of 1950, who has
homes on St. Augustine Beach (Crystal Beach area) and Fairmont, and Bob
Cottrill, Class of 1951, who lives in Melbourne, Florida.
And Amelia Island.
And Amelia Island.
Rhonda Carol Martin is a Mannington
High graduate who works at a Super Wal-Mart and lives in Mannington.
Janet Mundell is a retired Marion
County schoolteacher (1971-2002) and WVU graduate who lives in Fairmont.
Kitty had to deal with a downpour near Beckley on
Interstate 77 and rain nearly all the way en route to the Walterboro, South Carolina overnight lodging. They got to Atlantic Beach, in Jacksonville, Florida, safely and put their toes in the sand. Savannah, Georgia will be the overnight stop on the way north.
Kitty used Nancy’s Tours in Bridgeport.
About the only time Kitty slows down is to visit a medical
facility when her arthritis kicks up while she is driving in snow or a string of tests at Fairmont General
Hospital, both last year.
Even a
tour bus delay because of black ice that caused semis to jack-knife and cars to
skid off the road last November didn’t faze Kitty’s traveling.
And
since she retired from Wal-Mart in January, Kitty has even more time to purr
through life.
The Monongah High Alumni’s Traveling Lady’s sister, Susan Ahouse
Schrader, Class of 1971, lives in Piscataway, New Jersey and Stoney Lonesome.
Their brother is Mike Ahouse, a North Marion graduate and Monongah mailman.
Kitty and former husband Jim “Skip” Morrison, Class of 1965,
have a son, North Marion graduate Rick Morrison, who will be 42 years old June 13.
