Monongah Elementary head cook passes away
Ruth Elizabeth Hall Williamson, head
cook for Monongah Elementary School when she retired and a former employee of
St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah, passed away Sunday, April 19 at St.
Barbara’s. She lived in Monongah.
She is survived by her children: Alan
Williamson, Class of 1973, who lives in Monongah, and Kathy Williamson Hamrick,
Class of 1978, who lives in Shinnston.

Ruth
Elizabeth Williamson, 83, of Monongah, WV passed away Sunday April 19, 2015
at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born January 10,
1932 in Tazewell, VA, daughter of the late Albert Sr. and Cora (Williams)
Hall.
Ruth
was retired from the Marion County Board of Education where she was the head
cook for Monongah Elementary School, and was formerly employed at St.
Barbara’s Nursing Home. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church
in Monongah. She loved babies and enjoyed reading, bowling, playing bingo,
and spending time with friends.
She
is survived by two children, Alan Williamson of Monongah, WV, Kathy Hamrick
and husband Robert, Sr. of Shinnston, WV; one granddaughter, Jessica Liller
and husband Aaron of St. Albans, WV; one great grandson, Gage Liller; one
brother, Albert Hall, Jr. and wife Sylvia of Tazewell, VA; one sister Betty
Whitt of Tazewell, VA; and one sister-in-law, Helen “Ike” Raines of Carthage,
TX.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas
Fay Williamson; a son, Johnny Ray Williamson; and a brother, William Hall.
The
family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in
Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. The funeral
service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 23, in the funeral home
with Pastor Bill Preston officiating. Interment will follow at the Cochran
