Monongah’s Phyllis Hamrick Edgell passes away

Monongah’s Phyllis Hamrick Edgell, widow of Joseph Edgell, Jr., passed away Wednesday, April 12.

Her children are Toni Edgell Huffman, living in Monongah with husband Thomas Huffman; Joni Currey, also living in Monongah; and Joseph Edgell, living in Mill Fall with wife Donna Edgell.

Phyllis Grace Edgell, 82, of Monongah, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born November 14, 1934 in Kingmont, WV, daughter of the late Homer Hamrick and Sophie Hamrick.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edgell, Jr.; three brothers, Vilis Hamrick, Urvis Hamrick, and Arvis Hamrick; and four sisters, Gladys Abbott, Alice Vincent, Avis Hamrick, and Mavis Comegys.

She is survived by her daughters, Toni Huffman and her husband Thomas of Monongah, and Joni Currey of Monongah; a son, Joseph Edgell and his wife Donna of Mill Fall; a brother, Dennis Hamrick of Pennsylvania; sisters Janice Fisher of Kingmont and Beatrice Childs of Virginia; seven grandchildren Shannon Currey, Shala Currey, Kelsey Cottrell, Chloe Huffman, Maya Edgell, Emma Edgell, and Joseph Edgell; and three great grandchildren Quinton Currey, Landon Currey, and Amelia Cottrell.

The family would like to thank St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home for their loving care.


The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont, Saturday from 12 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Charles Fancher officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Cemetery in Eldora.
