Donna Davis’ mom passes away

Everson native Norma Lee Croaston Moorehead, mother of Monongah Alumni Association treasurer Donna Davis, Class of 1961, passed away Saturday, August 8.

Norma’s first husband was Walter Colbert, Donna’s father, who was killed in 1944 while serving in the military. She also is the widow of Frederick “Bud” Moorehead.

Donna is married to Bill Davis, Class of 1958. They live in Monongah. Her sister, Linda Pruitte, lives in Fairmont with husband Richard Pruitte. Their brother, Frederick R. Moorehead, was Class of 1964. His widow is Linda Savereno Moorehead, Class of 1968, who lives in Carolina.

Norma’s siblings are Doris Jackson, Roy Croaston and Edna Atkins of Baltimore and Naomi Perry of Helen’s Run.

o    Norma Lee (Croaston) Moorehead, 94, of Helens Run, passed away peacefully Saturday Morning, April 08, 2017 at Fazio’s Elder Care in Monongah.  She was born January 01, 1923 in Everson, WV, daughter of the late Hazel and Clara (Blair) Croaston.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Colbert who was killed in 1944 in military action; her second husband, Frederick “Bud” Moorehead in 1981; and her son, Frederick “Fred” Moorehead in January 2016.
 
She is survived by her daughters and daughter-in-law, Donna Davis and her husband William of Monongah, Linda Pruitte and husband Richard of Fairmont, and Linda Moorehead of Carolina;  three sisters, Doris Jackson of Baltimore, MD, Edna Atkins of Baltimore, MD, and Naomi Perry of Helen’s Run; a brother, Roy Croaston of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren, Tim Davis and wife Christina of Cherry Tree, PA, Brian Davis of Barnesboro, PA, Bruce Davis of Fairmont, Lisa Church and husband Brett of Fort Mill, SC, Erin Garrison and husband Jeff of Four States, Kerri Franks and husband Matt of Lake Lynn, PA and Brice Moorehead and wife Julie of Carolina. 
 
 Norma is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
 
Some of her greatest pastimes were reading, her flower gardens, and bird watching in her gazebo. 
 
 She also attended The Church of God of Prophecy throughout her entire life.
 
The family would like to thank Hospice Care and the caregivers at Fazio’s Elder Care.
 
The family will receive friend at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont, Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. 
 The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Max “Sunny” Palmer officiating.  Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Enterprise.
