John Spatafore, Carol’s husband, passes away

John Spatafore, husband of Carol Thompson Spatafore, Class of 1965, passed away Wednesday, September 14.

His children are Frank Spatafore, who lives in Monongah with wife Jonna; John Spatafore, Jr. of Koons Run; and Gina Spatafore Croteaus of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Daniel Thompson, Carol’s sister, lives in Monongah with wife Letha.

Carol handled the Monongah Alumni Reunion golf scramble till there weren’t enough entrants to keep it going. She has attended every Reunion from 2008 through 2016. She lives in Fairmont.

John Robert Spatafore, Sr., 68, of Fairmont passed away Wednesday September 14, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born October 28, 1947 in Kilarm, WV, son of the late Frank and Eva (Glover) Spatafore.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special aunt, Martha Spatafore.

 

John worked at Electronic Control Systems, Four States Mine, WV Miner’s Health Safety & Training, and finished his career at WV Mining Extension as an instructor.

 

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Carol (Thompson) Spatafore; three children, John Spatafore, Jr. of Koons Run, Frank Spatafore and wife Jonna of Monongah, and Gina Croteau and husband Steve of Hilton Head; his three most precious granddaughters, Frankie Marie and Annie Renea of Monongah, and Abbey Marie of Pleasant Valley; his last surviving aunt, Rachel Glover Ouye of Bowie, MD; several cousins and a very special friend who was like a brother, John Larry and his wife Linda. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry Thompson and wife Kathy of Mannington, Sandra Barton of Beaver, PA, Samuel Joseph Thompson and wife Mary of McLean, VA, Rebecca Cole and husband Phil of Fairmont, Daniel Thompson and wife Letha of Monongah, Bernadette Nagele and husband Ernest of Middletown, MD.

 

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 17, in the funeral home with his good friend, Ron Harris officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Enterprise. Pallbearers will include his sons, John, Jr. and Frank; his son-in-law, Steve Croteau; his brother-in-law, Dan Thompson; John Larry and Bob Colanero.
