David Dean’s mother passes away

Opal Temple Dean, mother of Monongah’s David Dean, passed away Wednesday, September 8 in Fairmont.

·         DIED: September 8, 2016

·         LOCATION: Barrackville, West Virginia

Opal Marie Dean, 88, of Fairmont passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2016 at Pierpont Center at Fairmont. She was born in Preston County on April 9, 1928 a daughter of the late Clarence Temple and Grace (Mouser) Temple. Opal was raised by Sally Estlack of Fairmont who preceded her in death.


She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dean; one sister, Margie Castell; two brothers, Clyde Temple and Garner Temple; a son Robert Dean; two son-in-law's, John Bass and Richard Musgrave; one daughter-in-law, Anabell Dean and five grandchildren.


Mrs. Dean is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie and Harry Ferrell of Lumberport , Kathenne Musgrave of Sandston's Virginia and Rose Bass of Fairmont; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Clyde and Ava Dean of Fairmont, David and Glenda Dean of Monongah and Linda Dean of Fairmont; twenty four grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.


Also surviving is one sister, Bobby Idelle Cameran of Hurston, Texas; two brothers, Creed Thomas of Rock Creek, Ohio and Bud Temple of Amsterdam, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.


Opal was a dedicated homemaker, when she was able, she loved to bake and can. She was a very loving mother and would do anything for anybody. She was a member of the Welcome Baptist Church in Chesapeake. She will be missed by her family and friends.


Opal's family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Health Care, Pierpont Center and Hospice Care of Fairmont for their Wonderful Care.


Family and Friends may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Monday from 11am to 2pm. The funeral service will be at 2pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at the Clermont Cemetery.
