Worthington’s Martha Collins passes away

Martha Shaver Collins of Worthington passed away Friday, April 8.

Her children are Ron Collins, Class of 1971; 1986 North Marion grad Sandra Dee Collins; and Ronald and Donald Collins.

Ron and Sandy live in Worthington, Don in Fairmont.

Martha’s brothers are Ken Shaver in Monongah, Eugene Shaver in Hutchinson and Jim Shaver in Farmington. Her sister, Carolyn Shaver, lives in Hutchinson. Martha was predeceased by  brothers Bill and Charles Shaver.

Martha’s obituary:

Martha Joan Collins, 83, of Worthington passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 25, 1932 in Smithburg, a daughter of the late Arlie and Eva Davis Shaver. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Collins.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Collins and wife Nancy; Donald Collins and wife Karen; and George Collins and wife Sharon, all of Fairmont; her daughter, Sandra Collins of Worthington; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Shaver and wife Genia Shaver of Hutchinson; James Shaver and wife Betty of Farmington; and Kenneth Shaver and wife Mitzi of Monongah; and her sister, Carolyn Shaver of Hutchinson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Shaver and wife Eleanor; and Charles Shaver.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Preston officiating. Interment will follow at the Enterprise I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
