Ashley Hunt opening restaurant

Ashley Hunt, daughter of Paula “P.J.” Hickman, North Marion Class of 1983 who started at Monongah High before the consolidation into North Marion, is opening a restaurant in Fairmont. April 18 is opening day for the Downtown Grill at 323 Adams Street.

That’s where the Jenna Won’t Sing Band headed by Greg Patrick performed regularly until the Firehouse Café closed.

Ashley is a Marion County substitute teacher after graduating from North Marion High and Fairmont State. She frequently is involved in charity work or helping out those in need after a crisis.

There’s never a dull moment for Ashley and her relatives and friends.

Her stepfather, Odis Martin of Fairmont, and Ashley’s brother and sister escaped serious injury when their Dodge Dakota pickup trust was sideswiped by a Ford F-350 and went over an embankment on Ice’s Run Road in Fairmont.

Ashley led a fund-raiser for Brian Coleman (Mr. Hoagie), who spent four weeks in the West Penn Burn Center after a 2014 fire that destroyed the home of Brian and Ann Coleman.

Hopefully, her restaurant will have a quieter life.
