Denny Clark,
husband of Laraine Lushinski Clark, Class of 1964, passed away Wednesday, April
5.
They live in
Mt. Clare near Clarksburg.

My sister,
Jackie Olesky Straight, Class of 1955, tipped me off about Denny’s passing.
Jackie, Rosemary Lushinski Tetrick and Laraine had an emotional reunion at the
2010 Monongah High Alumni Reunion.

Rosemary is
the godmother of Jackie’s daughter, Renee Straight, a WVU Ruby Memorial
pharmacist. Rosemary is married to Ron Tetrick. Both are Class of 1958 and live
in Baden, Pennsylvania.
Jackie
taught Denny and Laraine’s daughter, April, when April was working her way
toward a North Marion High diploma. Jackie also taught at Rivesville High before it
consolidated with Fairmont West and Monongah consolidated into North Marion.
The Sayres
family lived between the Olesky and Lushinski families on Church Street.

NUTTER FORT — Denzel
“Denny” Clay Clark, Jr., 68, of Mt. Clare, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April
5, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born in
Clarksburg, WV, on November 18, 1947, a son of the late Denzel Clay Clark, Sr.
and Lillian Ada Haslebacher Clark.
He is survived by his
wife of 44 years, Laraine S. Lushinski Clark, whom he married July 17, 1971,
and who resides at their home in Mt. Clare.
Also surviving are one
son, Clay Christopher Clark and wife Sherri of Clarksburg, WV; one daughter,
April Marie Santee and husband, Vernon of Grant Town, WV; four grandchildren,
Cassidy and Cameron Clark and Hunter and Holden Santee; four stepgrandchildren,
David, Danny, Cody and Cassius Santee; three sisters, Elnora Ganoe of
Clarksburg, WV, Sandra Hoffman of Brigantine, NJ, and Donna Fournier and
husband Mike of Martinsburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents,
he was preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Tony Ganoe, Stanley Grooms,
John Lushinski, Jr. and Tom Gawthrop and his mother and father-in-law, John and
Sophie Lushinski.
He was a 1965 graduate
of Washington Irving High School and attended electronics school for two years
in Baltimore, MD. He then volunteered in the United States Army having served
in Vietnam where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He
graduated from Fairmont State College with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. He
retired after 31 years as a self employed Tax Consultant in Mannington, WV, and
was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Stonewood, WV. Denny enjoyed
hunting and fishing trips with his family and traveling with his wife. He loved
spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and following
their sporting events.
Family and friends may
call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St., Nutter Fort, WV, on
Friday, April 8, 2016, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on
Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Church of the Nazarene, 9254 Cost Avenue,
Stonewood, WV, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Settles presiding. Graveside
services will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV, on
Monday, April 11, 2016, at 10 a.m., where full military honors will be
accorded.
