Betty’s mother was Stella Marie Sobolewski Hanus, who passed away last year. She was 98.

Joe ran the garage on the Jackson Street side of the building on U.S. 19. His parents ran the Hanus Grocery on the other end of the building. The PNA Tavern run by the Brzuzy family was between the two Hanus businesses.

Joe’s sisters were Ann Hanus Pavlik, widow of Mitch Pavlik, and Rose Hanus Vozniak, Class of 1938, widow of Edmund "Coozy" Vozniak.
After Mitch and Lena Futten Olesky passed away, their widows, Ann and John W. Olesky, Sr., were constant companions although they maintained their homes on Pike and Church streets.

Stella’s sister was Sophie Sobolewski Lushinski, who was married to John Lushinski and lived on Church Street two doors down from the Olesky family.
