Wedding behind them, Fosters ready for 1971’s reunion blastoff

This is a photo of the wedding of Jim Foster, Class of 1971, to Linda Phillips Foster, Class of 1977, on June 7, 2014 at Valley Falls State Park, which is off Exit 137 of I-79. Another 7 miles south on Route 310 and you’re there.

Jim is about as Monongah as you can get. He grew up there, went to Monongah Middle School and Monongah High School.

Linda is from Monongah, too, and, of course, went to Monongah High.

Jim and Linda live in Fairmont.

Two other Mononogah High grads were in the wedding party: Brenda Phillips Waugh, Class of 1978, and Jeanie Phillips Nibert, Class of 1975.

Jim & Linda still smiling today
All three Phillips sisters in the wedding are former MHS prom queens, which must be a record.

Despite almost two years of marriage, I’m guessing that Jim and Linda will be among the Class of 1971 crowd at Kip’s house at 5 p.m. Friday, May 27 for that with-it class’s reunion before the 92nd annual Monongah High Alumni Reunion the next evening at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont.

If they do, they’ll meet Joanna Cameon Reeves, Gary Domico, Jay Holman, former Lion Bob and wife Diane Bonasso, former Lion Pat and wife Cindy Levelle and, the woman organizing the food inventory, Sue Ahouse Schrader, at 27 Pine Ridge Lane in White Hall.

And, if I know the super-active Class of 1971, they are just the tip of the iceberg of those showing up.

As for the Saturday, May 27 activities:

Honor class photos will begin at 5:30 p.m. for 1956, 1961, 1966 and 1976 grads.

The banquet will start at 6:30 p.m., the dancing to the Stepping Stone music at 8:30 p.m.
