Happy birthday, Nick!

 

Nick Demus



That’s Nick Demus, Class of 1945, enjoying his birthday. He’s 5 years older than me so I bow to a superior maintained body.

 

Nick closed down Demus Market in 2012 to end a 55-year run in Worthington. When it came time to take over the store, Nellie Demus Bailey, Class of 1938, moved from Indiana to share that task with brother Nick.

Joe Demus and his family still sell their trademark sausage sandwiches at about 10 festivals/fairs a year.

 

Demus and Monongah High have a long relationship. There was Rose Demus, Class of 1939; Joan Demus, Class of 1941;  Rose Demus Argiro, Class of 1941, who married Larry Argiro; Michael “Mickey” Demus, Class of 1948; Theresa Demus, Class of 1950; Jim Demus, Class of 1954; Ramona Rose Demus, Class of 1971, who died in 1977, and Nick Demus III, Class of 1973.

When they weren’t making sausage, the Demus boys were making TV runs and tackles for the Monongah High football teams.
