Betty McNece Poster passes away

Betty McNece Poster, who started with the Class of 1951 and was a Monongah High cheerleader, passed away Sunday, March 12.

Her sister, Wilma McNece Dwyer, Class of 1955, passed away in 2015. Wilma worked at Westinghouse and lived in Fairmont.

Another sister, the ate Juanita McNece Angelucci, Class of 1956, once was married to Julie Angelucci, quarterback of the 1952 Monongah High state championship football team.

Betty’s obituary:

Betty Poster, 83, of Scott Depot, passed away Sunday (March 12, 2017) at home after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born April 12, 1933, to the late Joseph T. "Buck" McNece and Mildred Shepherd McNece.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Don Poster; daughter Kimberly Jo Prather; sisters, Lessie Ann Kelly, Wilma Mae Dwyer and Juanita Angelucci.


Betty was a Baptist by faith. She loved to sew, quilt, clean and organize. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many. She will be missed.


Betty is survived by her children, Louis Don Poster Jr. (Linda) of Fairmont, and Toni Poster (Gary Lowther) of Scott Depot; son-in-law Kenny Prather of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Louis Todd Poster of Columbus, Matthew Poster (Georgia) of Clarksburg, Kelli Poster-Hupp (Zac) of Grantsville, Nicholas Paul Prather of Cross Lanes and Jeffery Chad Prather of Poca; great-grandchildren, Jake Prather, Veronica Poster, Jarrod Poster and Devlin Poster; close family friend James Pennington of Scott Depot; and many other extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor James Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Park, Barboursville. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
