West Virginia jobless rate up at 6.6%
CHARLESTON (AP) - West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up in August to 6.6 percent.
WorkForce West Virginia says the unemployment rate went up three-tenths of a percentage point from the previous month. That translates to 1,900 more unemployed West Virginians.
The national unemployment rate for August was 6.1 percent.

In West Virginia, unemployment was driven up by losses in nonfarm employment and in the goods-producing and service sector.
