Charlie Miller to rehab at Peterson
in Wheeling

Charlie Miller, Class of
1971, star defender and halfback on Monongah High’s 1968 and 1969 state title
football team and 1968 state champ relay team in track, will moved to the Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital
in the Woodsdale section of Wheeling on July 19.
Charlie
suffered a stroke in April.
Charlie
and Kerry Marbury were an awesome twosome for Monongah High in both football
and track. Alabama football coach Nick “Brother” Saban was their quarterback on
the 1968 gridiron team. Brother and Kerry were best man at each other’s
weddings.

In the 1800’s businessman and
community leader B. Walker Peterson donated the land for the hospital, which is
named after him. He also was president of Ohio Valley General Hospital.
Peterson was born in and spent his
entire life in Wheeling. He is in the Wheeling Hall of Fame. On the day that
the Bethany College graduate and Wheeling Dollar Bank president was buried, all
activities in Wheeling, including trolley cars, stopped to honor him.
