Monongah’s Carolyn Prahl Mikulski, Class of 1966, visited her son, Tom Mikulski, a 1986 North Marion High grad who lives in Denver, Colorado. Carolyn was joined by Mimi Tennant, her sister, who worked for four decades at Consol, in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Carolyn’s daughter, Cheri Mikulski Smith, a WVU grad living in Morgantown, went with her.

Tom's father, also Tom Mikukski, Class of 1966, lives in Henderson, Nevada, a Los Vegas suburb. So does Agnes Jean Larry DiLauro, Class of 1950.
Visiting family is always a high, but the altitude (8,000 to 12,000 feet) gave Carolyn another feeling. I doubt that she hiked all 300 miles of trails on the 415 square mile park.
The children of Violet Morris Higinbotham Mikulski, Class of 1944, include Fairmont State grad Tom, who grew up in Carolina; Fairmont State grad Stephen Mikulski, Class of 1964, a Montgomery County Public Schools teacher of engineering design married to Holly White Mikulski and living in Germantown, Maryland; David Higinbotham and wife Cheryl of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Catherine Rogers and husband Harry of Fairmont; and Susan Morgan and husband Nick Perrotto of Cupertino, California.

Quips Tom about Carolyn’s visit:

“We miss you, too. The silence in the house is now deafening.”

Carolyn replies:

“Hope to see you at Christmas. Make your plans.”

Tom’s brother, Steve, is more likely to visit Istanbul, Turkey with wife Holly. That’s where their daughter, Kristen Mikulski Mitchell, lives with her husband Nick Mitchell.
