Anthony “Skip” Delligatti, grandfather of Monongah’s Maria Justin Ammons, passed away July 23 in his Fairmont home.
Another grandchild, Vincent Delligatti, was on the all-Big 10 high school conference team in 2012 as an offensive guard for Fairmont West.
Skip’s obituary:
Anthony V. "Skip" Delligatti, of Fairmont, passed away on July 23, 2015, at his home.  He was born September 2, 1937, on Spring Street in Fairmont, the son of late Anthony Cotton and Mary (Zinn) Delligatti.
Skip was married for 55 years to the "Love of His Life" Linda (Hunter) Delligatti.
In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his two sons, John "Skeeter" Delligatti and his wife Karen and Mark Delligatti and his wife Lynne all of Fairmont, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Hunter, and Vincent Delligatti, all of Fairmont, Maria (Justin) Ammons of Monongah, Anthony (Catie) Delligatti of Martinsburg and Ali and Andrew Summers of Fairmont. He was blessed with two great grandchildren, Reed & Lyla Ammons.
He is also survived by one brother, Mike (Martha) Delligatti of Grafton and two sisters Betsy (Carl) Rutherford of Logan, Ohio and Becky Williams of Fairmont, one sister-in-law, Connie Tilko of San Diego, CA, one son-in-law, Dave Summers of Fairmont, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Delligatti Summers, his sister Toni Wood, and his brothers Bobby Delligatti and Bill Delligatti. He was also preceded in death by many of his Brother Knights from Knights of Columbus Marian Council 942 and his dear friend, Bobby "Cousin" DeLorenzo.
Skip was a standout athlete and proud alumni of Fairmont Senior High School, Potomac State College, and Fairmont State University. He was a dedicated teacher and coach that touched many lives of the students from Fairmont Sr. High School and Miller Jr. High School. He always took joy in helping others especially the less fortunate. After his retirement, he kept busy with many charitable acts with Knights of Columbus, Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life, and driving cancer patients for treatments. He made sure that everyone he came in contact with became a member of his extended family and friends.
Skip took great pride in his involvement with Potomac State College. He served on the school’s alumni board for many years and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. He was also an active member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church where he served as President of the Parish Council for many years.
The family will receive friends at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Knights of Columbus Council 942 will have a Ritual service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday  July 27, 2015 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Fairmont with Fr. S.A. Arokiadass as Celebrant.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated. A private graveside service will be observed at a later date.
