HAPPY JULY 4TH TO LIONS EVERYWHERE !!!!

In 1776 when the 13 colonies thumbed their noses at King George III those Americans had the highest per capita income in the world and paid the lowest taxes.

The American colonies were more than 150 years old.

The wealthiest were planter George Washington, merchants John Hancock and Robert Morris, lawyer John Adams and tavern keepers who made about $100,000 a year in today’s money.

And America, unlike most countries, had a thriving middle class.

Farmers, tailors, carpenters prospered.

Where did America in 2021, with 1% wealthiest owning 30.4% of the country’s household wealth -- $34.2 trillion! – go wrong?

This is not what the Founding Fathers signed up for when they put their names and their wealth on the line against the most powerful nation in the world.

America owes them an apology!

The patriotic porch is at the home of Jackie Olesky Straight, Class of 1950, who lives in Rivesville.

She is co-host of the July 17 J&J&Lions Get-Together in the Monongah Town Hall. If you want to attend, phone Jackie at (304) 278-7157.

She will give you directions to her house where she has a Reservation form for you to sign. Hand her $20 per person (CASH ONLY at this late date) and you can join dozens of others who already signed up for the 6 p.m. dinner and music and nostalgia and laughter till 9 p.m.

NO ONE will be admitted without a prior Registration!

Happy 4th of July. And join a Happy 17th of July in the Monongah Town Hall!
