Monongah’s Betty Lou Nichols Moore passes away

Betty Lou Moore of Monongah passed away Saturday, July 21.

Three of her children live in Mill Fall: Jimmie Lee Moore, William Franklin and Margaret Lou Wills. Her daughter, Edith “Edie” Baranski, lives in Fairmont with Walter Baranski.

Betty Lou’s obituary:

Betty Lou Moore, 86 of Monongah passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 12, 1931 in Fairmont a daughter of the late Rev. Ira Nichols and Edith Virginia (Cork) Nichols.

Betty was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother, she had worked at G.C. Murphy. She was a protestant by Faith. She was a loving giving person who loved everyone. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Betty Lou enjoyed life, dancing and cookouts. She was a huge sports fan, with a special interest in football.

She was a special lady who will be missed by all who knew her.


Mrs. Moore is survived by her sons and their spouses, Jimmie Lee and Donna Moore of Mill Fall and William Franklin and Billie Jo Moore of Mill Fall; two daughters, and their spouses, Margaret Lou and Mark Wills of Mill Fall and Edith “Edie” and Walter Baranski of Fairmont.


She was blessed with eleven grandchildren and spouses, Aimee Upton, Michael and Lisa Moore, Matthew and Brittany Moore, Amanda and Phillip White, Lee Anna and Bill Hall, Jo Lynn and Matthew Taylor, Jennifer Wills, Bobby Wills, Eric Moore and Misty Parker, Christian and Sherman Stanley and Stephanie Jo and Dale Hollandsworth; twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Evelyn Cunningham both of Fairmont and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert “Bob” Moore on January 25, 1986; her son, James Robert Moore, Jr. and her brothers, Glenn Nichols, Raymond Nichols, Alfred Nichols and Wayne Nichols.


We would like to thank all the wonderful people who cared for our mother, especially, Richard Simpson and his staff, the staff at Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Doctors, Bharti, Mike Jude and Tingler and the caring staff throughout the hospital.


Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Wednesday from 2pm to 8pm and on Thursday from 11am to 1pm. The funeral service will be at 1pm on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Ridge Cemetery.
